The application file of Cheikh Tidjane Thiam, candidate of the Democratic Party of Côte d’Ivoire – African Democratic Rally (PDCI-RDA), was officially submitted on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the headquarters of the Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) in Abidjan-Cocody.
Upon receipt of the application, the institution’s permanent secretary, Kouamé Adjoumani Pierre, recalled the documents required by electoral law. His colleague, CEI spokesperson Émile Ébrotié, then confirmed that all the documents presented were complete, paving the way for the official registration of the septuagenarian party president’s candidacy.
Speaking on behalf of the PDCI-RDA delegation, Alain Cocautrey, chief of staff to the party president, hailed the moment as a decisive step for the future of the country. « History will remember that you (the CEI) are at the heart of this initiative. On behalf of this important delegation, I would like to express our gratitude to you. Thank you, and see you soon, » he said after the receipt was handed over.
