Burkina Faso-United States: Donald Trump reaffirms his support inthe areas of trade, energy, mining, and telecommunications

On July 24, 2025, Burkina Faso’s ambassador to the United States, Brigadier General Kassoum Coulibaly, presented his credentials to US President Donald Trump during an official ceremony at the White House.

In his correspondence with the State Department, the Burkinabe diplomat praised the quality of bilateral relations and discussed the fight against terrorism affecting Burkina Faso and the Alliance of Sahel States. He highlighted the progress made under the presidency of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, particularly in terms of regaining territory and returning internally displaced persons.

Donald Trump, for his part, reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to strengthening cooperation with Burkina Faso in key sectors such as trade, energy, mining, and telecommunications.
