« YAM Carnival, an event that celebrates black culture from around the world, has just announced the names of the African artists invited for the 2021 edition, scheduled for Saturday 28 August at Clapham Common in London, England. Nigerian artist Davido will headline the event. The other performers invited are Stonebwoy, Omah Lay, Patoranking, Rema, Femi Kuti, King Promise, Pa Salieu, DDB, Ms Bank, Fally Ipupa, Yemi Alade and Fatoumata Diawara.

« ‘YAM Carnival’ is indeed another addition to the already busy festival calendar on the last weekend of August. All points ‘East’, ‘Field Day’ and ‘Maiden Voyage’ will take place in London, while ‘Creamfields’, ‘Reading’ and ‘Leeds’ and ‘Victorious’ are among the high-profile festivals taking place across the UK. It remains to be seen whether the Notting Hill Carnival will also return to West London this weekend.
Tickets go on sale this Thursday 1 April 2021, with prices starting from £59.50 (45,601 FCFA). The organisers have promised « a mouth-watering array of food and drink from around the world, sampling special dishes we all know and love. Expect contemporary bites and traditional home comforts from London’s best food trucks and African-influenced chefs this August. »
