Moroccan wrestler Zied Ait Ouagram has qualified for the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games. He won his ticket in the under 77 kg category, in Greco-Roman wrestling, during the qualifying tournament held in Hammamet (Tunisia). He beat Egyptian Mohamed Abdelrahman. The Tunisian Marwa Amri also validated her qualification thanks to her three victories in the 62 kg category of group 4 of the qualifying tournament of the Africa-Oceania Zone.
The Moroccan Zied Ait Ouagram won his ticket in the under 77 kg category, in Greco-Roman wrestling, during the qualifying tournament held in Hammamet in Tunisia, by dominating the Egyptian Mohamed Abdelrahman. The Lion of Atlas remains one of the wrestlers of his generation, with 11 titles in African championships to his credit, including the last one in 2019. After having worn the colours of Tunisia at the 2012 Olympics, Ait Ouagram had finally opted for Morocco, whose colours he defended in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
The Tunisian Marwa Amri also won her ticket for the Tokyo 2021 Olympics, this Saturday, in Hammamet. She qualified thanks to her three victories in the 62kg category of group 4 of the Africa-Oceania Zone qualifying tournament. She first beat the Cameroonian Berte Emilienne Etae Ngole (7-0), then the Moroccan Zeineb Hassouna (6-2) and the Nigerian Adeniyi Aminat Oluwafunmilayo (3-1). Marwa Amri will face the Algerian Amel Hammiche tonight.
With 11 African titles, Marwa Amri, 32, is a medal chance for Tunisia at the next Olympics. She had already won the bronze medal at the 2016 Olympics in Brazil. Her compatriots, Slimane Nasr (67 kg), Amjed Maafi (77 kg), Haykel Achouri (97 kg), are already qualified for these Olympic Games of Tokyo 2021.
