Just appointed by President Alassane Dramane Ouattara as Prime Minister of Côte d’Ivoire, the head of government, Patrick Achi, who replaced the late Hamed Bakayoko, is hospitalized in France, where he is to receive medical treatment.
The eyes of the world are on Côte d’Ivoire where Prime Minister Patrick Achi, who left Abidjan on the evening of 10 May, has gone to France for medical treatment. According to the Ivorian press, the head of government fell ill at his residence in the Riviera-Golf-Beverly-Hills district of Abidjan on 8 May.
Patrick Achi was treated in the economic capital of Côte d’Ivoire for 48 hours before being transferred to France on the instructions of the Ivorian Head of State, Alassane Ouattara. It was on the evening of 10 May that the Prime Minister returned to France for treatment, the head of government was accompanied by his wife Florence and his personal physician.
It was on 11 May that Patrick Achi was admitted to the American Hospital in Paris, Neuilly-sur-Seine. There was reason for concern, especially as the head of government was suffering from intestinal bleeding. If the Ivorian government relativizes and mentions a « state of health that does not cause concern », it is quite different for the average citizen.
Indeed, Patrick Achi was appointed Prime Minister on 26 March. President Alassane Ouattara appointed him to replace Hamed Bakayoko, who died on 10 March, victim of a cancer that took him away, after several weeks in hospital in Paris, before being transferred to Germany, where the head of government will give up the ghost. A death that shocked the whole world.
Indeed, before Hamed Bakayoko, the former Ivorian Prime Minister, Amadou Gon Coulibaly, then designated by Alassane Ouattara to be a candidate in the October 2020 presidential elections, died. He also left abruptly. A few days after his return from a two-month medical stay in France, Gon Coulibaly suffered a heart attack in Abidjan. Death had struck right in the heart of the Ivorian Prime Minister’s office. After him, it was Hamed Bakayoko who died.
With this hospitalization of the new head of the Ivorian government, Patrick Achi in particular, the whole world has its eyes riveted on Côte d’Ivoire and is crossing its fingers for the one who occupies this post which is becoming dangerous. And one may well ask what is happening with the Prime Ministers of President Alassane Dramane Ouattara.
