SAs part of the preparations for the inauguration of the airport of Saint-Louis by the President of the Republic Macky Sall, scheduled for July 14, 2022, the Minister of Tourism and Air Transport, Mr. Alioune Sarr made a visit to the site of this infrastructure, this Thursday, July 7, 2022.
The objective of this visit is to ensure, visually, that all arrangements are made for the day.
Alioune Sarr was pleased with the satisfactory level of preparation and took the opportunity to congratulate all state services for their diligence in conducting the project.
23 billion F CFA
With a total cost of more than 23 billion CFA francs, the airport of Saint-Louis will be equipped with a runway of 2500 m long and 45 m wide. Modern equipment will be installed to enable technicians to do their work in the best conditions. The works of the airport of Saint-Louis include: the widening of the runways, runway strips and fencing wall, the control tower, the technical block, the meteorological station, the air navigation equipment, the beaconing, the passenger terminal, the hangar for the storage of equipments and vehicles, the anti-fire building, the various equipments, the kerosene tanks and the tanker truck for the supply of the aircrafts, among others, with a Boeing 737 300 as a reference plane.
The infrastructure will ensure all the conditions of comfort and convenience and will present all the criteria of quality, security and safety.
This important infrastructure will support the tourism, mining and agricultural sectors and will generate direct and indirect employment to contribute to the socio-economic development of the entire region.
As a reminder, the project is part of the Senegalese Airport Reconstruction Program (PRAS), one of the three components of the flagship project for the revival of the sub-regional air hub of the Emerging Senegal Plan (PSE), along with the commissioning and development of the Blaise Diagne International Airport and the national airline Air Sénégal SA and its development.
