The Moroccan champion of surfing, Ramzi Boukhiam, will represent the Cherifian kingdom, Africa and the Arab world in the competitions of surfing which will be one of the new disciplines of the Olympic Games of Tokyo 2021. In an interview with RFI, he expressed his joy at this unprecedented achievement of realizing his dream of qualifying for the Olympics, adding that his greatest ambition is « to honor Morocco, the Arab world and Africa through a distinguished representation at this great global sporting event.
Ramzi Boukhiam is very ambitious for these Olympics of surfing that will take place on the beaches of Tsurigasaki. « I aim for the gold medal! After, it will be very complicated because there will be the best in the world. But anything can happen. I feel ready, I have good boards. I just need to get everything connected on the day. My opponents are not unbeatable (sic). I’m really going there to win, » he said.
In addition, Morocco, through the Moroccan National Olympic Committee (CNOM), said that any athlete who wins a gold medal at these games will pocket 190,000 euros, for a silver medal 120,000 euros and for bronze 70,000 euros.
