In Nigeria, police said Tuesday they were looking for Ifeanyi Ejiofor, a lawyer for Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Biafra Indigenous Peoples Movement (IPOB).
« I would like Nigerians to know that as we speak, lawyer Ejiofor, a member of the IPOB and his cohorts have been declared wanted by the command, » said Tuesday, John Abang, police chief of the state of Anambra.
According to local media reports, the search was launched hours after clashes between the police and relatives of the lawyer at his home. It all began with a search of the police who had just been informed of the sequestration of a person in Ifeanyi Ejiofor’s house.
But both parties quickly succumbed to the temptation of confrontation. The report mentions two policemen killed.
Nigerians believe that the search of Mr. Ejiofor’s home is illegal.
« What is the crime that the lawyer Ifeanyi Ejiofor committed that could justify a joint descent of the army and the police to his home for the murder, we warn the world that the life of the Biafrans is in danger? Asked one user on Twitter.
