The ranking of the most expensive selections in relation to the different squads of the 5th and 6th rounds of the Cameroon 2022 African Cup of Nations qualifiers. With a workforce of the last grouping estimated at 245.58 million euros (162 billion CFA francs), Côte d’Ivoire comes first, ahead of Senegal and Morocco.
Senegal, who have topped the FIFA rankings for almost 29 months and were runners-up at the last African Cup of Nations, did not have the most expensive squad on the continent in terms of market value in the fifth and sixth rounds of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, according to transfermarkt. The market value of Aliou Cisse’s last squad was estimated at 227.85 million euros (150.2 billion CFA francs), although he did manage to bring in big-name reinforcements such as Fode Ballo Toure (Monaco), Abdou Diallo (PSG) and Nampalys Mendy (Leicester City).
Côte d’Ivoire, whose latest squad is valued at 245.58 million euros (162 billion CFA francs), is in first place, ahead of Senegal. The third step of the podium is occupied by Morocco, with a last list estimated at 221.48 million euros (146 billion FCFA), with the arrivals of Munir El Haddadi (FC Sevilla) and Adam Masina (Watford). Nigeria are fourth in the table with the market value of their latest squad valued at €204.55 million (CFAF 135 billion).
With a market value of 177.35 million euros (117 billion FCFA), the Algerian team occupies the 5th place in the top 10 most expensive African teams. It is ahead of Egypt, which is in 6th place with 159.65 million euros (105.2 billion FCFA). Ghana is 7th with a market value of 106.78 million euros (70.4 billion FCFA), ahead of Guinea: 86.13 million euros (56.8 billion FCFA).
Already qualified after the first four rounds of these qualifiers, Mali, which has rather called on its players who participated in the last African Nations Championship, leaving many of its executives at the disposal of their respective clubs, does not logically appear in the African top 10 of the workforce of the last two FIFA dates.
