The Atlas Lions of Morocco have won the title of the 5th edition of the Arab Futsal Championship after their victory over Egypt, the host country, with a score of 4-0. The Moroccan Mohamed Achraf Saoud, who scored a hat-trick against the Pharaohs, is also the top scorer of this competition, with 8 goals.
After a first half that was half and half, Morocco came back with a lot of determination in the second half. After only two minutes of the second half, the Atlas Lions took control of the game, opening the score thanks to Youssef Jaouad.
Mohamed Achraf Saoud added to the tally for the Moroccan national team, scoring a hat-trick (5′, 13′ and 18′) in the second half. He finishes at the top of the scorers’ ranking of this 5th edition of the championship, with 8 goals.
The Moroccan team, which has achieved a perfect record in this 5th edition of the Arab Futsal Championship in Cairo, Egypt, has also finished the competition with a full house, by winning all its games (5 in total) with a harvest of 26 goals scored and only 2 conceded. It thus succeeds Libya, which held the trophy since the previous edition in 2008.
It should be recalled that for its first outing in this competition, Morocco had won in the group stage against the United Arab Emirates (5-1), then Comoros (3-1) and Saudi Arabia (8-0) respectively. In the semi-finals, the Atlas Lions overcame Bahrain (6-0) and defeated the host country Egypt in the final (4-0).
