The Senegalese series « Maitresse d’un homme marié » (Mistress of a married man) is at the heart of the news in the land of Teranga. Between the departures, notably that of Halima Gadji, who was the most noticed, and the often negative judgements of the Senegalese, everything is going on. Enough for the production structure, Marodi, to take stock.
In the recent past, the Senegalese have had the right to a new type of soap opera. Gone are the classic, educational series, linked to the realities of society, it is the Europeanization of Senegalese cinema. Among these new series, one is leading the way, certainly in terms of audience, but also and above all in terms of controversy in the country. « Maitresse d’un homme marié ». Just as we were heading towards the third season, a problem arose. Halima Gadji, the main actress, slams the door. Tongues were wagging.
« We have a good relationship with Halima Gadji, our problem was rather a planning issue. Halima is an ambitious actress who had other commitments. Her schedule and that of the shootings were no longer compatible and we couldn’t wait for her to start season 3, » explains director El Hadji Cissokho. Addressing the issue of fees deemed derisory, he said: « Our actors can earn more than a million per month. From one season to the next the fees can increase ».
On the subject of the scriptwriter Kalista Sy, who is said to have left the show, Marodi Tv says that the contract between them is still in force and that she left for France for personal reasons, justifying that this is why since episode 10, the team of scriptwriters of Marodi Tv has taken things in hand. « We have never had problems with script changes in our series, because they are often changed, » says El Hadji Cissokho. In any case, the controversy around this series is still not over.
