As part of its PANS (North South Associative Partnership) program, MDA participated in the reformulation and supported the project to strengthen the Talhaya Health Area in Mauritania, supported by the Association of Talhaya Nationals in France and their partner in Mauritania, AJTD. This project was based on 3 axes: rehabilitation and equipment of the health post, outpatient medicine to allow the greatest number to be consulted by a doctor and setting up the community dynamics.
The latter was launched by Médecins d’Afrique with the restructuring of the Health Committee, the establishment of community relays and their training. Visits to the villages, their leaders, exchanges with the health authorities and some referents of the United Nations system open new perspectives. MDA supported the community in developing a one-year community building plan.
It is an additional commitment by MDA to support the community and its representative organizations (COSA, ARTF and AJTD) to help strengthen the health district of Talhaya. The year 2018 is rich in prospects.
