Nine babies delivered in one go! In a press release, Mali’s Minister of Health and Social Development, Dr Fanta Siby, informed that after a successful multiple foetus pregnancy, Mrs Halima Cissé has given birth to nine babies.
« After a two-week medical stay at the Point G hospital in Bamako, on the instructions of the president of the transition, Bah N’Daw, Mrs Cissé was admitted on 30 March 2021 to a Moroccan clinic for treatment of her pregnancy, » said the Minister of Health and Social Development, who went on to say that on 4 May 2021, Halima Cissé gave birth, by Caesarean section, to nine newborn babies instead of the seven announced by the results of ultrasound scans carried out both in Mali and Morocco. These were five girls and four boys. The Malian minister reassures that the babies and the mother are doing well.
Dr Siby, a Knight of the National Order, praised the political leadership and generosity of the President of the Transition, which, according to her, made it possible to expedite and ensure the financial support for the medical evacuation of Halima Cissé.
As a reminder, the Mexican Karla Vanessa Perez had achieved this « feat » in May 2012.
