Moroccan Achraf Moutii was crowned African champion in the -81 KG category, this Friday, during the second day of the 42nd African judo championships in Dakar Arena (Senegal). He dominated in the final the Tunisian Hachem Sellami.
Morocco continues to collect medals. After a breathtaking first day, the Cherifian kingdom has won a new medal in the -81 KG category. Achraf Moutii was crowned African champion, dominating in the final the Tunisian Hachem Sellami. He thus confirms the Maghrebian hegemony in this competition.
In the semi-final, Achraf Moutii beat Saliou Ndiaye from Senegal. Ndiaye was able to defeat Fetra Ratsimiziva from Madagascar and offer Senegal a first medal in the men’s category on this second day. In the women’s category, Fatou Kiné Badji (-70 KG) also won a bronze medal by defeating the Moroccan Oulaya Khairi on ippon.
With 4 gold and 3 bronze medals, Morocco still leads the ranking, ahead of Tunisia (3 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze). Algeria came third with 1 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals. Egypt came 4th (1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze), ahead of South Africa (1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze).
