« Harmonize » says he decided to pay tribute to their late President on 17 March 2021, by tattooing his face on his leg with the inscriptions « I sacrificed my life for the poor ». In March this year, Harmonize came under heavy criticism after he took to Insta-Live to mourn the death of the late President Magufuli, on camera, live.
At the time, many of those who commented on the live video commented that there was no need for the artist to record himself crying on Instagram live, if indeed he was sincere with his tears. Others pointed out that everyone has the right to mourn the head of state as they see fit.
In October 2019, Tanzanian President John Pombe Joseph Magufuli asked Harmonize to join politics and contest the Tandaimba parliamentary seat, but unfortunately, he did not take the advice, in the 2020 general elections.
Speaking to Ruangwa, the late Magufuli endorsed Harmonize, saying he was very hardworking and wanted to see him represent his people in Parliament. « But I congratulate Harmonize. I don’t know what state he is from. What state is he from? Are you singing? Who is the MP there? I really wish Harmonise would run for election and become the MP for Tandaimba. The young man is working very hard. My brothers and sisters, thank you very much, God bless you, » President Magufuli said.
