During the second day of the Tunis Para Athletics Grand Prix which continues at the Rades Olympic Stadium, the Algerian Safia Djelal (F57) won the gold medal in shot put, twin classes (F55/57). For her part, Bakhta Benallou offered Algeria a silver medal in the javelin (T13), with an attempt at 31.55m.
Grouped with 13 competitors, Safia Djelal managed to get a good result, taking the 1st place, with an attempt at 10.80m, totalling (996 pts). She beat the Nigerian Lyiazi Eucharia (F57) with a throw of 9.87m and a total of (907 pts) and the Czech Obrova Miroslava (F56) who totalled 710 pts for an attempt at 6.75m.
For her part, Bakhta Benallou offered Algeria a silver medal in the javelin (T13), with an attempt at 31.55m, ahead of the Belarussian, Piatrenka Lizaveta (31.60m) and the Mexican Alvarez Rebeca (30.20m). Samir Nouioua (T46) took the second place in the 5000m, twin classes (T13/46), while the thrower Mounia Gasmi (F32) won the bronze medal in the Club, twin classes (F31/32/51), with a total of 1011 pts, for a throw of 24,24m.
After 2 days of competition, Algeria is in second place with a total of 14 medals (7 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze), ahead of Morocco (6, 4, 3), and behind Tunisia (8, 9, 6). Algeria is taking part with 22 athletes, including 9 girls, in the 15th Tunis Para Athletics Grand Prix, which will end on Saturday evening.
