Following the sanctions imposed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) a few weeks ago with the suspension of Chad’s Sao for the last two rounds of the 2022 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, the Council Bureau of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has taken the following decisions regarding the governance of the FTFA
The FIFA Council Bureau has decided to suspend the Chadian Football Federation (FTFA) with immediate effect, due to government interference. The suspension was motivated by the recent decisions of the Chadian government authorities to permanently withdraw the powers delegated to the FTFA, to establish a national committee for the temporary management of football and to take control of the FTFA premises.
The suspension will be lifted as soon as the governmental decisions in question have been repealed and the Chadian Football Federation and its management, headed by President Moctar Mahamoud Hamid, have confirmed to FIFA that the FTFA premises are once again under its control.
It should be noted that the consequences of this sanction will not have enough effect on Chadian football for the moment, as Chad is out of the running for the Cameroon 2022 African Cup of Nations and the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. The Sao have no more official matches on the programme for the next 11 months.
