FIBA 2023 IN EGYPT: Held for hours at Alexandria airport, a 12th Gaïndé deported to Dakar

Member of the supporters’ committee called « Le 12ème Gaindé », he was in administrative detention at the airport of Alexandria. Indeed, Aliou Ngom was held for hours in a room at the airport. In the meantime, he was deported from Egypt to Senegal.

According to Le Quotidien, which quotes Wiwsport, through a press release, the Senegalese Federation of basketball was concerned about the conditions of detention. This member of the committee of supporters is « present at all Fiba competitions in which our national teams participate.

« Aliou Ngom has benefited from all the necessary administrative support in the steps to obtain a visa before leaving. But the Egyptian embassy in Dakar had refused the visa requests of the Senegalese delegation as well as those of journalists who wanted to cover the event, « said the Senegalese Federation of Basketball.

According to FIBA, steps were taken with the administrative authorities of Senegal to end this situation. The Egyptian federation of basketball was also informed of the case. The Lions of Basketball are currently in Egypt for the third window of the Qualifiers Africa Zone of the FIBA World Cup 2023.
