Gambians jostle President Adama Barrow. The latter, who had openly promised to do only three years in office before making the apron, is slow to materialize his promise. In recent days, including this Monday, December 16, thousands of his compatriots have taken to the streets to put pressure on him.
The Three Years Jotna platform carried out a petition which they forwarded to the government spokesperson. In their document, they ask Adama Barrow to hold the presidential elections in which he will not participate. « You will not participate and will remain impartial without doing any favor to any candidate, and you will hand over power honorably and graciously to whoever wins this election, » they said in the document.
As a reminder, in 2016, President Barrow promised the political parties that supported him that he would put in place a three-year transitional government before organizing elections in which he will not participate. But, at the rate things are going, Jammeh’s drummer seems to have forgotten his promise, since the three years are almost completely over.
