A breath of fresh air has been blowing in recent times in the fight against Ebola in eastern DRC. According to the Congolese branch of the World Health Organization (WHO), no new cases have been recorded in three provinces: North Kivu, South Kivu and Ituri.
In a small text posted on his Twitter page, the UN institution explains that it is data dating from December 3.
, with data provided until 03 Dec 2019. No new confirmed cases have been reported, « reveals the text. The WHO indicates, however, that a death has been recorded among the cases treated.
« However, one death was recorded among the confirmed cases managed at the Biakato Ebola Treatment Center, » the message added.
Since the introduction of a new vaccine last month and the reshuffle within the response team (appointment Dr. Muyembe for example), the spread of Ebola is becoming increasingly slow.
This is the tenth epidemic on Congolese soil that has already 2,206 people since its declaration in August 2018.
Now remains to neutralize the armed groups who sow terror and even attacking the response teams as evidenced by the attack on Wednesday against the health center of Biakato Mine.
At the end of last November at least four health workers responsible for the vaccination against Ebola were killed in an unclaimed armed attack.
