This is without doubt one of the largest drug seizures on the high seas made by the national navy. Indeed, on October 17, Senegalese coast guards intercepted a ship called La Rosa 363 km off Dakar with a cargo of 2026 kg of pure cocaine on board, said the Dirpa in a statement.
The five crew members involved in international drug trafficking were apprehended during the operation, which was carried out by the patrol boats Lac Retba and Cachouane, with air support from the Casa 235 maritime patrol aircraft of the French Air Force and the French Falcon 50 stationed in Dakar.
An investigation was opened. The crew and the cargo were handed over to the competent authorities.
