In the DRC, two photos supposed to be those of Joseph Kabila show him driving his motorcycle without a helmet. To the chagrin of many of his compatriots who accuse him of violating the rules of the road in force.
Both photos were posted on Twitter. For Internet users, they highlight the former president of the DRC. If the relatives have not yet authenticated these images and except photomontage, accoutrement, jig, hair and face, in short everything suggests that it is indeed the « moral authority » of the Common Front for Congo (FCC), political platform created by the former head of state.
On these images, the person supposed to be Kabila rolls his bike alongside some faithful. But all these bikers do not have helmets screwed around their heads.
Which in the eyes of Internet users constitutes a violation of the Highway Code. « Drivers and passengers of mopeds and motorcycles (…) must wear a helmet, » reads article 54 of the text in force since 1978.
A good reason for many Congolese to criticize the former president. « He certainly does not want to go unnoticed because of the helmet. Reason why he does not want it. It will still be necessary that the traffic police will take care of it soon « , deplores for example Aimé Kaba, a surfer.
Others are trying to legitimize Kabila’s attitude by posting a similar image of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Joseph Kabila led the DRC from 2001 to 2019. However, he remains in the political arena as a senator and « moral authority » of the Common Front for Congo (FCC) platform created when he was in power.
