The city of Oicha in the Democratic Republic of Congo is burying the victims of the latest massacre attributed to the armed group ADF, in the east of the country.
On Friday, hundreds of people paid tribute to the victims while attacking the security forces for failing to prevent the attacks.
The bereaved gathered quietly around the tiny Oicha morgue, located near the Ugandan border and east of the town of Beni in the DRC, scene of repeated massacres.
« We found the bodies of our brothers near our small houses that are in different fields …. We found the bodies beheaded, all the heads were separated from the bodies, « says a grieving resident.
Rosette Kashauri, a student, lost her aunt. « She was truly beheaded. His face was unrecognizable. I only recognized my aunt through her clothes. «
During the funeral, gunshots are heard in the nearby bush. Who shoots? the army, self-defense groups? Hard to know.
The massacre took place on Wednesday, bringing to 107 the number of people killed in and around Beni since 5 November.
