The Congolese army announced Monday that it has killed 80 members of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), an armed group of Ugandan origin.
This may be the first major harvest of ongoing military operations against the rebel group of Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in eastern DRC.
According to the Armed Forces of RD C (FARDC), more than 80 elements of this rebellion from Uganda were neutralized or captured during this campaign started a month ago. « Official report of recent operations against the ADF launched on October 30, 2019: 80 enemy combatants shot dead including 4 of their commanders, » wrote on Twitter, General Léon Kasonga, spokesperson of the FARDC.
The officer also said that two ADF leaders continue to escape the FARDC’s firepower. However, several localities were taken back to the enemy. « The FARDC are still tracking 2 of their leaders present in Beni. Mayangose, Tsotsota, Mwalika and Kididiwe recovered, « he added.
According to the Congolese army, all eliminated enemies are foreigners. « On the ADF fighters killed or captured, money from foreign countries (Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi) was found. Moreover, no Congolese is among the listed ADF commanders, all foreigners, « said General Kasonga.
