BET Awards has announced the nominees for this year’s awards. Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz, Nigeria’s Wizkid and Burna Boy have been nominated in the Best International Act category alongside Mali’s Aya Nakamura, Emicida (Brazil), Headie One (UK), Young T & Bugsey (UK) and Youssoupha (France).
Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz, Nigeria’s Burna Boy and Wizkid are in the running for the Best International Actor award, alongside Aya Nakamura (France), (Tanzania), Emicida (Brazil), Headie One (UK), Young T & Bugsey (UK) and Youssoupha (France). Burna Boy won the Best International Act category at the 2019 and 2020 BET Awards. The last two years have been great for Burna Boy and Wizkid, who both won Grammys, at this year’s awards.
Diamond Platnumz has also had a great run which culminated in his recent signing with Warner Music. « We’re back and thrilled to safely bring the biggest night in culture, the 2021 BET Awards, back to Los Angeles to celebrate this year’s incredible list of nominees, » said Connie Orlando, Executive Vice President Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy.

American singer Megan Thee Stallion has seven nominations, including Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, Video of the Year, Album of the Year and Best Collaboration. DaBaby also took the top spot with seven acclaims, including Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Album of the Year and Viewer’s Choice Award.
Senegalese-American screenwriter Jo-Issa Rae Diop, known as « Issa Ra », is up for best actress alongside Andra Day, Jurnee Smollett, Viola Davis, Zendaya and Angela Bassett. Chadwick Boseman, Daniel Kaluuya, Eddie Murphy, Lakeith Stanfield, Aldis Hodge and Damson Idris have been nominated for Best Actor.
