Award-winning Afrobeat musician, David Adeleke aka Davido, has reached 20 million followers on Instagram, making him the first African artist to reach the milestone. The Nigerian singer also continues to maintain his number one spot as the most followed African artist on social media.
Nigeria’s most popular artist, Davido, has just surpassed the 20 million Instagram followers mark, making him the first African artist to achieve these statistics. He continues to maintain his number one position as the most followed African artist on the major social media platforms, ahead of fellow Nigerians, Wizkid (12.1 million) and Burna Boy (6.6 million), who won awards at the recent Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.
The DMW label boss was quick to celebrate this achievement by taking to his page to announce the good news. He also revealed a collaboration based on a song by Zlatan Ibile and Mayorkun. « 20 million subscribers! « he wrote in a caption.
This is not the first time Davido has set a record on Instagram as he is the first Nigerian artiste to reach 1 million, 2 million, 5 million, 10 million and 15 million followers on the platform. In addition, Davido’s hit song ‘Fall’ became the first Nigerian music video to reach 100 million views in 2017, and in 2021, he became the first music video to reach 200 million views on YouTube.
The artiste was congratulated by several of his subscribers in his comment section. « Congratulations Davido, God bless you.
