The Institut Pasteur de Dakar is about to make available a portable and affordable test kit to diagnose Covid-19 according to the statement to CNN by the general administrator of the Institut Pasteur de Dakar, Dr. Amadou Sall, reports the Rfm.
He explains that it is a very simple technology like a pregnancy test that can be used anywhere at the community level. Dr. Sall believes that this device is important for Africa and its cost will not exceed one (1) dollar.
« The Covid-19 Rapid Test Kits will be available on the continent through the ticket of governments and health organizations. For the moment, the focus is on public health. By February 2021, the Institut Pasteur’s objective is to deliver 5 to 10 million kits and the African continent will be the first served, » the source continues.
Dr. Amadou Sall recalled that this prototype kit was tested in June after raising funds from donors such as the British non-profit organization Trust and the British government.
