An Ivorian army position in Kafolo, on the border between Côte d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso, was attacked in the early hours of Monday 29 March 2021, with several deaths. The Ivorian army has launched a hunt for the attackers.
A manhunt in Côte d’Ivoire where Defence and Security Forces positions were targeted by an attack in Kafolo, in the north of the West African country, on Monday 29 March 2021. This attack has not yet been officially confirmed by the state authorities, including the Chief of Staff of the armed forces. It was also reported that sweep operations are underway to catch the attackers.
Security sources said that at least four people were killed: two soldiers and two assailants who lost their lives during the assault. It should be noted that Kafolo was the target of an attack on the night of 10 to 11 June 2020, which cost the lives of 12 soldiers and a gendarme, the Ivorian authorities had said. This attack had been attributed to « jihadists ».
