For the sixth consecutive year, Africa’s representative to the Club World Cup has been eliminated in its first match. Esperance of Tunis was beaten in the quarterfinals on Saturday by Al-Hilal.
A match and then goes, it has become a habit among the representatives of the continent at the Club World Cup. And Esperance de Tunis was no exception this year in Doha, Qatar.
Like last year, the African champions were out in the quarterfinals by those of Asia, Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia. This is the sixth straight elimination for an African club in the quarterfinals of the Club World Cup, none of which has reached the last four since 2013.
We also look back on the verdict in favor of CAF in the dispute between Lagardere Sports over a media and marketing contract. A case no doubt far from over and which we are talking about with the journalist and sports marketing consultant, the Cameroonian Frank Ghislain Onguéné.
And finally, we are talking about the draw for the round of 16 of the European Champions League carried out this Monday in Nyon, Switzerland. A draw that has some very nice posters in store for us, including the big shocks between Real Madrid and Manchester City and also Atlético de Madrid-Liverpool. All the posters are to be found in this program.
