China is a key partner of Algeria. The Middle Kingdom supports the vision of a « new Algeria » advocated by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, said its ambassador in Algiers, Li Lianhe.
The Chinese ambassador to Algeria, Li Lianhe, spoke yesterday Monday about the relations between his country and Algeria. The Chinese diplomat said that China supports the vision of a « new Algeria » advocated by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and will « firmly » oppose any external interference in Algeria’s internal affairs.
« In the post-pandemic era, China and Algeria will continue to deepen their practical cooperation in various fields. As the Chinese proverb says, it is only in winter that you realise that the pine and cypress trees wither late, » Ambassador Li Lianhe said in an op-ed published yesterday, Monday, in the English-language Chinese state organ China Daily.
« The pandemic has highlighted the strength of the friendship between the two countries and the benefits of their practical cooperation. President Tebboune proposed last year to ‘build a new Algeria’, now the country is devoting its efforts to achieving this vision and economic prosperity, » the Chinese ambassador said.
« As a good friend, good partner and good brother of Algeria, China would like to share its own development experience, help Chinese enterprises to continue to participate in the economic and social construction in Algeria, and strengthen the synergy of the Belt and Road Initiative with the vision of a ‘New Algeria’, » Li Lianhe stressed.
« China will dig deeper to tap the enormous potential of bilateral cooperation in various fields, enrich the content of the Sino-Algerian comprehensive strategic partnership and build a Sino-Algerian community with a common future, » the Chinese ambassador to Algeria continued.
« Under the joint efforts of the two countries in the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and the vision of a « New Algeria », China-Algeria cooperation will continue to unleash its great potential and pave a better future for the Sino-Algerian comprehensive strategic partnership, » Li Lianhe said in the same context.
« China will continue, as always, to support Algeria in the pursuit of a development path adapted to its national conditions » and « will offer advantages to Algeria when it purchases Chinese vaccines, and will firmly oppose any nationalism in the distribution of Covid-19 vaccines ».
As the leading supplier of products to Algeria, with a trade surplus in its favour of $4.2 billion (CFAF 2,309 billion) in the 11 months to 2020, China has taken the lion’s share of the economic stimulus packages launched in the 2000s.
