Morocco has succeeded in entering the 6th edition of the African Championship of Nations, logically disposing of Togo (1-0), Monday, January 18, 2021, at the Reunification Stadium in Douala. The only goal of the match is the work of Yahya Jabrane, on a penalty converted in two stages in the 27th minute.
The Atlas Lions clearly dominated the Togolese, even if the result does not necessarily reflect the physiognomy of the match. Ayoub El Kaabi, top scorer of the last edition (9 goals), and his teammates were extremely unrealistic and missed several clear chances. This almost earned them a bad surprise in the last minutes, when they were very happy not to be sanctioned with a penalty by the central referee of Madagascar, Andofetra Rakotojaona.
With this victory, the Atlas Lions take temporarily the lead of group C, while waiting for the Rwanda / Uganda match. In addition, Morocco will face Rwanda on Friday (16:00 GMT), as part of the second day of the group phase of this competition.
