There are only 7 places left to be taken in the 6th and final day of the qualifiers, which starts this Sunday with several matches on the programme, including the final match between Sudan and South Africa (16:00 GMT) in Omdurman, for the second ticket in group C. While Bafana-Bafana need only a draw to qualify, the Nile Crocodiles must win at home to qualify for Cameroon.
If a draw is enough for South Africa’s Bafana-Bafana (2nd, 10 pts) to qualify, Sudan’s Nile Crocodiles (3rd, 9 pts) need all three wins at home to hope to return to the top flight of African football after several years of absence. At the same time, Ghana will try to win at home against Sao Tome and Principe, to keep the lead in group C.
It should be recalled that 17 countries are already qualified for the 33rd edition of the African Cup of Nations, such as Cameroon (host country), Algeria, defending champion, Senegal, Tunisia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Comoros, Gambia, Ghana, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Zimbabwe, Morocco, Côte d’Ivoire and Egypt.
