The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled the outline of the draw procedure. It will be based on the monthly barometer of the International Federation of Football (FIFA Ranking) published on August 12, 2021. That is to say the same system as for the draw of the CAN 2019. Thus, apart from Cameroon (host country) and Algeria (defending champion), the 22 other teams qualified for the competition will be placed in four pots according to their FIFA Ranking.

POT 2 : Egypt, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea

POT 4: Malawi, Sudan, Equatorial Guinea, Comoros, Ethiopia, Gambia
