The Algerian intelligence services are looking for the Moroccan spy who leaked the information on the emergency admission of Brahim Ghali, leader of the Polisario Front, to a hospital in Logroño, Spain, under the assumed name of Mohamed Ben Battouche, an Algerian national, on 18 April.
The Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army (ANP), General Said Chengriha, immediately ordered the opening of an investigation, reports Assahifa. Already, the officers forming an integral part of the Algerian intelligence services, as well as the most important people involved in foreign operations have been heard one after the other, just after the leak of information on the hospitalization of Brahim Ghali in Spain.
However, the Algerian intelligence services, in order not to arouse other suspicions and leak other information, are very cautious about the Brahim Ghali case. Moreover, this situation would be the source of tension between Said Chengriha and Major General Noureddine Mokri, Director General of Documentation and External Security, to the point that the latter would be threatened to be removed from his position.
The Moroccan press, including Bladi, reveals that among the personalities targeted by the investigation, Ammar Belhimer, Minister of Communication and spokesman for the Algerian government, who was also heard in the context of this case of leaking information on Ghali.
