Despite the absence of Riyad Mahrez and Ismael Bennacer, Algeria has pulverized Mauritania (4-1) tonight at the Mustapha Tchaker stadium. A new victory for the men of Djamel Belmadi, who remains on their dynamic of 25 games without a single defeat since 2018. Sofiane Feghouli was the tormentor of the Murabitounes, thanks to his double, which allowed his team to unwind in this game.
Reigning African champions Algeria strolled past Mauritania at their home stadium, Stade Mustapha Tchaker, with a 4-1 victory. After a very timid start, during which Mauritania resisted, Sofiane Feghouli opened the score a few minutes before the break in favour of Algeria (1-0, 41′). This was the score at half-time.
After the break, the Mauritanians will surprise their opponents by equalizing through Sidi Yacoub (1-1, 56′). But the Algerians will regain the advantage three minutes later, through Sofiane Feghouli (2-1, 59′). After this second goal, Algeria found its football and went ahead of the Murabitouns, with Adam Ounas (61′) and the inevitable Bagdad Bounedjah (71′).
The Fennecs then won for the sixth time in seven matches against Mauritania, including a draw. Icing on the cake, they also recorded their 25th game without a single defeat since 2018. On Sunday, Algeria will face the Eagles of Mali, for a second outing that will certainly see the return of captain Riyad Mahrez.
