At the opening of the African Food Systems Forum (AFSF) this Monday, September 1, 2025 in Diamniadio, at the Abdou Diouf International Conference Center (CICAD), Amath Pathé Sène, Director General of the forum, affirmed Africa’s ambition to mobilize its resources to make food systems the engine of its renaissance and the foundation of its sovereignty and integrated development. « We will unite our will, mobilize our resources to make food systems the engine of African renaissance, in a dynamic based on dignity, sovereignty and integrated development, » he declared.
The summit, which runs until September 5 under the theme « African Youth: Spearheading Collaboration, Innovation, and the Transformation of Agri-Food Systems, » addresses issues of infrastructure, innovation, exchange, solidarity, and sharing between African countries and with the rest of the world. Amath Pathé Sène emphasized that this event goes beyond a simple business forum, aiming to catalyze concrete transformations. He emphasized that the choice of theme reflects the momentum of African youth, who are working for an Africa in line with the aspirations of its people.
Around 6,000 participants from 80 countries are taking part in this meeting, which focuses on the key role of young people in agri-food processing.
